EDUCATIONAL EXHIBITS Exhibits must be of an educational nature relating to agriculture, family and consumer sciences or a 4-H project area. To reserve your exhibit space you must contact an Extension Agent by August 14, 2008 at (931) 375-5301. Space is limited. All exhibits must be in place by Monday, August 25, 2008, at 1:00 PM and must remain set up throughout the fair. All blue ribbon exhibits premiums will benefit the club or program represented. The scoring system used will be: Educational Value 40 points Originality 35 points Attractiveness 25 points TOTAL 100 POINTS
2008 MAURY COUNTY FAIR HOME-CENTERED ACTIVITIES Department D - Starla Hardin, Superintendent All articles for exhibition in this department must be strictly handmade and the work of the exhibitor. No soiled articles will be accepted for exhibit. Only one entry may be made in a lot per person, and item must have been made this year. A youth may enter an adult category only if there is not a comparable category in the youth division. No articles from a previous fair will be judged. When there is no competition, or entries are not up to standard, judge will place awards according to merit. No premiums are awarded unless the judge considers them worthy. Entries must be left in the fair for the entire time. All participants must leave the building while items are being judged. Efforts will be made to see to it that all rules are followed. YOUTH INDIVIDUAL EXHIBITS 1. Any Maury County youth 17 years old or younger may enter Youth Individual Exhibit categories. 2. All articles must be the work of the person whose name appears on the entry tag. 3. All domestic art items must be the current year’s work. 4. Each person may only enter one item per lot. 5. All entries must be checked in between 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM on August 25, 2008. 6. All items, excluding fresh food, should be checked out between 10 AM - 6 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. 7. All canning entries must be sealed in standard canning jars. 8. Each canning entry should have the name of the product and exhibitor on the bottom of the jar. 9. Bring all fresh cooked food items on paper plates wrapped in clear plastic, or on a paper plate in sealable clear bag. 10. No commercial mixes are allowed in fresh food categories. 11. Premium winning food entries will remain on display through September 2, 2008. 12. All small garden entries should be brought on paper plates. 13. 4-H POULTRY SHOW, SKILLATHON AND SALE Dill Hughes, Superintendent Saturday, August 23, 2008 Baker Building 1. Entries must be from 4-H’ers current year’s poultry project. 2. An entry will be six (6) pullets per exhibitor in grades 5-12. An entry will be three (3) pullets per exhibitor in the 4th grade. Grade determined at beginning of project. 3. One show will be held for both black sex linked and red sex linked pullets. Each show, both red and black, will have an Explorer (4th grade) and a 5-12 grade Division. 4. Black sex linked exhibitors must register their pullets between 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM. The black sex linked show will begin at 10:00 AM with the sale starting at 10:30 AM. 5. Red sex linked exhibitors must register their pullets between 11:00 AM and Noon. The show will begin at 12:00 Noon with the sale starting at 12:30 PM. 6. Premiums are as follows: BLACK SEX LINKED B+ - $7.00 B - $5.00 R - $3.00 RED SEX LINKED B+ - $7.00 B - $5.00 R - $3.00 Grand & Reserve Grand Champions in each division must sell their pullets.
